EAST SIDE PICTURES

East Side Pictures is an independent production company in New York City that specializes in developing original content for broadcast, video-on-demand, and web-based platforms. The company was founded in 2003 by writer/producer/editor Michael Bentley to create innovative story-driven material in new emerging media.
Since its inception, East Side Pictures has produced dozens of hours of long-form programming and short-form digital media for A&E, The History Channel, and the Biography Channel. We have created interstitials, webisodes, and behind-the-scenes featurettes to support marquee series like The Sopranos, Ice Road Truckers, Intervention, Expedition Africa, and World War II in HD. We have also developed promotional content and DVD supplementary materials for organizations such as The Brooklyn Philharmonic, The American Tenors, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Recent projects include two forthcoming video installations for the Smithsonian Institution and the Ellis Island Immigration Museum.
Working across the broad spectrum of media formats, we are committed to tell stories that entertain, engage and inspire viewers to look at the world in a different way.
Prior to forming East Side Pictures, Michael wrote and produced a wide range of documentaries that aired on A&E, PBS, The History Channel, and the Outdoor Life Network. Michael studied filmmaking and photography at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he received his master’s degree in Cinema Studies.
He still enjoys watching Frankenstein whenever he gets the chance.
